HEALING SERVICES FOR SYSTEM-IMPACTED INDIVIDUALS

Dignity and Power Now’s (DPN) Health and Wellness Program is grounded in the Healing Justice Framework, developed by the Kindred Southern Healing Justice Collective. Our offerings are intended to address and transform the generational trauma that system-impacted individuals, families, and organizers have endured due to the Prison Industrial Complex, State Sanctioned Violence and Policing.

Our fight for abolition centers the need for healing by developing strategies for collective care to build community power. We believe mental, physical, and spiritual wellness fuels our community organizing efforts to  to shut down the Prison Industrial Complex in Los Angeles County.

In partnership with BIPOC healers, we offer holistic healing and free wellness resources to:
  • Formerly incarcerated individuals
  • Families who are caring for or have lost incarcerated loved ones
  • Survivors of law enforcement violence
  • Local community organizers and members in Los Angeles.

Voices of dignity & power

"DPN supported my family after police violence. When my 19-year-old son was killed by police, DPN offered massage therapy, community support, and healing events. They referred me to a therapist experienced in trauma and grief, which helped me process my son's death more than other therapists could.

I've also taken computer, yoga, and remedial classes through DPN, which offers safe spaces for learning, healing, and community support with DPN."
- DeAnna
"After serving 36 years in prison, [and being] on parole for the last 2 years. The wear and tear on my body and spirit was tremendous. Lack of trusting anyone unknown personally takes a lot. I received a massage — the pushing away of tension from years in prison is noticeable to me! More importantly, the healing of my spirit and the beginnings of feeling human again.

My spirit eased and my body relaxed. I did not realize I truly needed Community Care Healing until after I received it . The importance of DPN’s Community Care Healing Program is humanizing people like me."

Trauma-Informed Healing Services

Our healers provide therapy, massage, acupuncture, yoga, reiki, meditation, energy healing, nutrition, somatic coaching, and more.

Community Care Healing Program (CCHP):

This program connects active DPN Members to free 1:1 healing resources. We have a network of BIPOC healers that are a part of this program. Today, we collaborate with over 30 mission-aligned BIPOC healers to provide a wide range of healing modalities for system-impacted community members and organizers. Healing Clinics:

Wellness Clinics are held at various times throughout the year in rotating locations based on community needs. These free clinics are led by the Building Resilience team and provide entire communities with wellness services. Community members can visit the clinic and choose which stations they’d like to participate in at their own pace.

In addition to the above-mentioned modalities, the Wellness Clinics also provide listening stations, food, and DPN Wellness Kits, which include homemade items such as bath salts, teas, salves, aromatherapy spritzers, rollers, and medicine pouches.

DPN healers are often called upon by the community to provide virtual and in person decompression rooms during marches, rallies, vigils, and campaign meetings.

Freedom Harvest:

Working with our healers network and community members, we come together to create a healing portal filled with free healing services, free food, and community resources for people being released from jail and to support people visiting their loved ones in custody.

We also create welcome home kits for people being released - including basic hygiene products, snacks, water, resources.

Building Resilience Healers Network:

Today, we collaborate with over 30 mission-aligned BIPOC healers to provide a wide range of healing modalities for system-impacted community members and organizers.
