Dignity and Power Now (DPN) is a grassroots organization based in Los Angeles that fights for the dignity and power of incarcerated people, their families, and communities. In doing so, DPN wages a fight for everyone because the prison industrial complex forms an imaginative limit on everyone’s capacity to envision freedom and liberation. The Digital Media Consultant, reporting to the Communications Manager, plays a pivotal role in creating and managing digital media content aligned with the organization’s objectives. This position collaborates with the Communications team to primarily develop impactful social media content related to the needs of the organization. This individual is also responsible for tech support and media assistance within coalition spaces.
Work Location: Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, Multiple locations
Schedule: Weekdays; Weekends as needed

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, Content, and Social Media
- Proficiency with collaborative digital media and project management apps such as:
- Canva or Adobe Suite, MailChimp, Google Business Suite, and project management tracking tools like Trello or Asana
- Experience navigating social media platforms, including but not limited to Instagram, Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, Mastodon, and TikTok
- Design visually appealing graphics for social media, website, and e-blasts
- Develop toolkits for social media platforms, including graphics and copy
- Craft engaging captions and copy for graphics, email blasts, and other collateral
- Post timely content social media feeds based on the monthly schedule
- Edit audio and video clips for social media, including but not limited to clips from press interviews, webinars, and key County meetings
- Compile, analyze, and interpret social media and digital ad analytics
- Execute strategies to drive social media community engagement
- Collect key quotes from transcripts and design custom thank-you and victory graphics for posting on DPN website platforms.
Tech Support & Web Development Work
- Provide technical support for online communications events such as Facebook Lives, Instagram Lives, and Zoom Webinars
- Develop front-end user experiences for WordPress and SquareSpace
Organizational & Organizing Skills
- Utilize organizational tools to maintain efficiency and security (LastPass, VPN, Asana, etc.)
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment, including co editing, task prioritization, media team calendar management, and administrative tasks.
- Comfortable with conducting community outreach activities like text banking, phone banking, and canvassing.
- Communicate with care, integrity, and timeliness
Media Support in Coalition Spaces
- Provide media support to coalition spaces such as Justice LA, and the Care First CA Coalition when appropriate
- Monitor and report on coverage related to Coalition activities
Other Projects as assigned
- Undertake additional responsibilities as delegated by the Communication Manager

Pay: $2,800.00 - $3,000.00 per month
