Genevieve Romero was born and raised in New Mexico, as the youngest child in a large family affected by systemic injustice and incarceration. Genevieve feels called to address the root causes of addiction and inequality in her family and community, and is deeply committed to prison abolition, racial justice, and transformative justice. Genevieve has worked in grassroots organizing around healthcare reform, reproductive justice, and abolition. Her work has always been grounded in coalition building, advocacy, and community empowerment. She is currently a Care First CA Fellow and looks forward to continuing to learn.
