With a long professional history, Michele Ynfante is now a civilian oversight campaign lead and state policy advocate for Dignity and Power Now, as well as DPN’s office administrator. As someone who was formerly incarcerated in Los Angeles County’s Century Regional Detention Facility (CRDF) and experienced abuse, Michele is uniquely skilled in transformative, trauma-informed, strategic social justice work.
As civilian oversight campaign lead, Michele has researched review panels and local departments worldwide and has been instrumental in the implementation of civilian oversight over the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department with a nine-member board and no current law enforcement. Currently she is running for a seat on the commission as well as focusing on obtaining subpoena power by exploring changing County Charter and SB-1286.
