Reuben Jones

Reuben Jones is a social justice advocate and change agent who is committed to ending mass incarceration via criminal justice reform and community activism. Reuben has worked on issues such as bail reform, pre-trial detention, “Ban the Box”, parole eligibility for lifers, jail closures, community re-investment, and opposition to risk assessment tools and electronic monitoring. Reuben is a proud HBCU graduate, and obtained his Master’s Degree (with Honors) from Lincoln University in 2009. Reuben is a co-founder of the Philadelphia Community Bail Fund and a member of the Philadelphia Re-Entry Coalition, The Coalition for a Just District Attorney, the Philadelphia Anti Violence Coalition, and the NO215Jails Coalition. He served on Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney’s Transition Team (Public Safety Committee), and on the Universal Pre-K Commission. Reuben has also served as the Philadelphia Campaign Coordinator for Just Leadership USA, in which he led a campaign that successfully lobbied to close the “House of Corrections”, the oldest actively used jail in the country. In 2016, Reuben won the Presidential Service Award from President Barack Obama for his commitment to social justice advocacy, volunteerism, and community organizing.
